Story Map Tour is one of the most popular story maps, ideal for tours or for presenting a series of locations you’d like users to follow in sequence. By default a Map Tour opens to an introduction or the first tour stop, depending on how it has been configured, and provides sequential access to a series of photos or other media linked to locations on an interactive map.

Tour stops are presented as a row of thumbnails, numbered from 1 to the last stop of the tour. The tour stop number, or index, can be found on each thumbnail as shown below:

To open a Map Tour at a specific tour stop, add &index=<num> to the end of the story map URL, where num is the index number that you want the tour to begin with.

For example, the following URL will open a Map Tour of world waterfalls at the beginning, tour stop 1:

http://d7esrifrance.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/?appid=2be2bf0f0c664836940c75923644cd0a

To start the tour at the 8th waterfall, use the following URL (note the index number appended):

http://d7esrifrance.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/?appid=2be2bf0f0c664836940c75923644cd0a&index=8

Note: The map zoom level will be the zoom you would see if the tour was launched at the beginning. Auto-zoom settings for subsequent tour stops (if one has been set) are not currently respected.
